Former England cricket star Gladstone Small, pictured centre with some of the pupils, was an inspirational presence at a Bradford school’s annual awards ceremony this week.
More than 270 awards were handed out to pupils at Thornton Grammar who have excelled in various aspects of school life and extra-curricula activities. Chris Sampson, the school’s deputy head teacher, said: “I’m extremely proud of the achievements of all students, whether they have achieved in an academic field or sport or in their personal development or for helping the community. It was good to have the opportunity to savour their achievements in front of staff and parents.
“We were particularly pleased with Gladstone Small who gave an inspirational speech about taking advantage of your circumstances and moving forward.”
