The rumour mill is cranking into gear as another transfer window fast approaches.

Speculation never stops but the transfer tit-bits will reach fever pitch over the next few weeks. Even if 90 per cent of the moves being mooted prove to be absolute baloney.

But one interesting one caught my eye on a Californian website.

Apparently Donovan Ricketts is being head-hunted to become the next goalkeeper of LA Galaxy. Yeah, that’s right, David Beckham’s LA Galaxy…

A year after bowing out of City with a 1-1 draw against a Wrexham side heading for non-league, the Don could be lining up in the MLS with old Golden Balls (that’s if he comes back from Milan).

Imagine the fun in training when Beckham is practising his free-kicks. And I can’t wait to see his face when Ricketts does one of his trademark kamikaze dashes out of goal and attempts to nutmeg the centre forward!

He may not have been the best keeper to wear a City shirt but we’ve all got a favourite Ricketts tale. I fondly recall the step-over and forward roll along the touchline against Tranmere.

The big regret is that he never got the chance of a proper farewell after the passport/work permit fiasco – although it did save the club a good few quid for the last few months of his contract.

Since then, Ricketts has been marooned in the Caribbean back with his first club, Village United.

But with Jamaica’s position rocketing – the latest FIFA list ranks them at 65 after a 51-place leap in two months – there could be light at the end of the tunnel for the big fella.

From West Yorkshire to the West Coast? I wonder what Posh will think!
