An opticians’ surgery is urging people to donate their unwanted glasses this Christmas to help those in the developing world blighted by poor eyesight.
Specsavers, in Market Street, Shipley, wants to donate as many pairs as possible to Bradford Lions Club and has urged people to dig out their old spectacles.
Store manager Nadia Dyson-Mebrouk said: “This is an extremely worthwhile project and I urge as many people as possible to make donations so we can give the gift of sight to those who need it most. All unwanted glasses will be taken by Bradford Lions Club to countries across the developing world and dispensed to people with little current access to eyecare. These old specs can be truly life-changing.”
