Yeadon student Stuart Philipson has become the first apprentice in the 24-year history of expanding Leeds healthcare company Xiros.
Educated at Benton Park School, Rawdon, Stuart will undergo a four-year programme between Xiros and Bradford College, where he will study mechanical engineering. In his spare time Stuart plays bass in heavy rock group Out of the Embers.
Xiros is a medical firm founded by former Leeds University lecturer Bahaa Seedhom to develop implants for repairing damaged joints.
