Airport-style “knife arches” were used tonight in the latest police crackdown on people carrying weapons.
The collapsible arches were in use at PM Lounge and Bar in Saltaire Road, Shipley.
About 300 revellers, who were at the music venue to see band Bad Manners, passed through the arch as a condition of entry.
Some were also checked by police from Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team with hand-held scanners.
No weapons were found during the evening.
Sergeant Khalid Khan, who was leading the initiative, said: “This is giving out the double message to keep people safe and to make people aware that it is illegal to carry knives.
“The general consensus from members of the public has been very positive. Some have been surprised that we are doing it but it has been important for us to explain that we are not here to check them out, we are here to ensure their safety.”
PM bar licensee Thanos Dimou said: “When the chance was offered to members of Pub Watch to have the knife arch, we jumped at it.”
