The alcohol licence of a Shipley store has been suspended after Trading Standards chiefs tried to get its licence revoked amid concerns of selling alcohol to under 18s.
Tommy’s Mini-Market in Leeds Road was the subject of an application at today’s Bradford Council’s licensing panel after test purchases revealed alcohol was being sold to children – directly and by proxy.
Owner Mohammed Asam Bashir said his brother Naweed, who had been caught selling alcohol to a 15-year-old last October, had been fired.
Committee chairman, Councillor Peter Hill, told Mr Bashir they were suspending his licence for one month and a number of conditions were attached, including that CCTV footage must be kept for 28 days, a Think 21 policy must be introduced and staff trained on licensing rules.
