Tickets have gone on sale for a fundraising extravaganza which has helped raise more than £2 million to help leukaemia patients in Bradford.
The 17th annual Smokie Gala Dinner Dance in aid of the Annette Fox Leukaemia Research Fund takes place on Friday, March 6, at the Hilton Hotel in Bradford.
Guests will enjoy a three-course dinner, followed by an exclusive performance by Smokie, then a DJ and dancing into the early hours.
Tickets are £50 each, with tables of ten available at £500, and proceeds will go to the charity, which is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Charity chairman Alan Griffin said: “Smokie have performed many times over the years, helping the charity raise more than £2 million for the patients and equipment on Ward 7 at BRI.
“One of the greatest achievements of the charity has been the complete modernisation of Ward 7 and in subsequent years, two further refurbishments.
At the beginning of 2008 the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, opened the new day-care facilities on the ward.
“The charity has also, on two occasions, taken children with serious blood disorders and their parents on trips to Disneyland Paris.
“Approximately 170 children and adults have benefited from these trips.
“Over the years many pieces of essential equipment have been purchased and are in operation on Ward 7 and the haematology department.
“The trustees of the Annette Fox Research Fund wish to thank everyone who has, over the years, made this possible and hope that they will continue to help the fund help others.”
