Four people – including two children – were forced to flee a burning building in the middle of the night.
Fire broke out in the basement of a home in Springfield Terrace, off Otley Road, Guiseley, at about 2.30am yesterday.
Firemen from Rawdon, who attended the scene and extinguished the flames, believe the blaze was sparked by a faulty dehumidifier.
The basement suffered fire damage and the rest of the building was smoke-logged. The family were asleep when they were alerted by a smoke alarm.
The four occupants of the damaged home were given accommodation for the night by another family in the street.
