Four youngsters have won prizes in a competition to design promotional material for Skipton Community Camerata’s recording of “The Night Before Christmas”.
The premiere of Tom Lydon’s Christmas cantata will take place in Skipton’s Craven Court shopping centre on Wednesday at 7pm.
The young choir has already made a recording of the work – which will also be released next week – and were initially challenged to design the CD cover.
But Ben Crick, artistic director at Skipton Building Society Camerata, said: “The enterprise element of this project has really taken off.”
Skipton Extended Schools supported the printing of a choir T-shirt and Skipton Town Council sponsored the competition. More than 30 entries were judged by town mayor Coun Carole Manley and Peter Greenwood, editor of the Craven Herald, a sister title of the Telegraph & Argus.
The winners were Harriet Ball from Cracoe and Rylstone Primary (CD cover), Frances Reynoldson from Skipton Parish Primary and Millicent Lee from Bradley Primary (concert programme) and Rosalind Griffiths from Christ Church Primary (T shirt).
Tickets costing £5 are available from the Skipton Building Society Camerata Box Office on (01756) 707606.
