The achievements of a self-made Bradford businessman, who arrived in the UK from Pakistan unable to speak English were honoured by more than 100 Yorkshire business people.
Zulfi Hussain, of Calverley, is an author, diversity champion and international speaker and received the MBE this year for his services to business and charity.
He is the founder and head of Bradford-based coaching and mentoring company, Global Synergy Solutions. Mr Hussain is also a speaker on issues including the benefits of diversity in the workplace.
Zulfi co-authored The Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring and this year published four books of poems.
He is the founder of Global Promise, a charity he formed with friends and associates in response to the Asian tsunami, which has raised more than £2m in less than six months.
A reception in his honour was hosted by Club LS1, Leeds, with support from Marketing Leeds and award-winning Bradford restaurant Zouk.
