Brighouse Town, newcomers to the non-league ladder will not disappoint anyone with the standard they bring to the level on or off the field.
That was the gist of the bold and proudly delivered assessment of new manager Mark Brier, who was near-neighbour’s Liversedge’s chairman last season.
The new boss of the new Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Division One club also named the two people he has recruited to complete his management team this week.
“It is an extremely good set-up at Brighouse Town, mainly because the club has a great committee working tirelessly,” said Brier.
“They have been gearing up to move onto the non-league ladder for some years and have looked at what Silsden have done in the few years since they made the step-up.
"Our pitch is very good, we have the necessary floodlights and facilities and have reached the necessary ground-grading criteria.
“The changing rooms are fantastic, a luxury compared to some other clubs at this level and even above.
"As we speak there are new, 11-seat, dug outs being constructed - I think in terms of ground we are up to UniBond standard already.”
Having the correct infrastructure - they have a floodlit training pitch and access to winter training facilities - stands them in good stead but that is only half of the equation.
Getting results on the pitch is the only thing that will propel the club forward now, and Brier feels he has made the best possible appointments for his staff.
“I have asked Darren Attwood to come as my assistant and he has accepted,” added Brier.
“He was a pro at Torquay United when they were a Football League club and was on schoolboy terms at West Bromwich Albion. He has walked the walk as a player and has worked through the coaching levels since.
“We will be joined by Brian Brooks, who was at Thackley last season. He knows the non-league scene in the area and will be in the dug out as a sponge man but also helping with his knowledge of the game.”
