Police had to seal off roads and divert traffic in Harden after a gas leak today.
The leak was discovered after members of the public reported smelling gas at around 7am.
Engineers from United Utilities were today at the scene in Hill End Road on behalf of Northern Gas Network trying to find out what had caused it and the crack that has appeared in the road.
Traffic was being diverted up to the Guide pub and back down Keighley Road.
The road is likely to stay closed for the rest of the day.
A Northern Gas Network spokesman said: “There are no houses nearby, no one is in danger, everything is under control.”
