A playground at a school in Bingley has been voted the second worst in the country.
Pupils at Priestthorpe Primary entered their stark playing surface into the Goodyear 2008 Playground Appeal, but have learnt the playground, described as “extremely underdeveloped” by judges, was named runner-up in the competition for a £10,000 make-over.
School spokesman Sarah White said: “We have since launched an appeal to raise funds to make phased changes to the playground.
“We would like to offer our thanks to everyone who supported us in trying to raise the profile of the school in the hope that we would win. If anyone does want to help us improve the playground we would be very grateful.”
