Marie Curie Cancer Care is inviting walkers to step out and raise funds on its Anniversary Walk next month.
The event on Sunday, July 13, starts and finishes at the Riverside Hotel, Ilkley, marking the charity’s 60th birthday.
The seven-mile ramble along the riverside towards Adding-ham will take in Nesfield and Middleton before returning through the woods to the start.
Marie Curie’s Community Fundraising manager, Brenda Doyle, said: “Our anniversary is an occasion we feel richly deserves celebrating. The walk is being held on the actual weekend the charity was founded.”
From small beginnings the charity has grown into a UK-wide organisation caring for cancer patients and others with life-limiting illnesses. In the Bradford area the charity runs a hospice in Maudsley Street costing £7,000 a day caring for cancer patients and those with other life-limiting illnesses. The charity also has a network of nurses working in the community.
“All the services we provide are free so we rely on the community we serve for support,” said Brenda.
