Bradford Bulls rugby league mascots are helping children recognise dangers in a new book.
The publication is being launched by Bradford and Airedale Teaching PCT and the Bulls for Child Safety Week.
The story follows mascots Bullboy and Bullman on their journey to a rugby game and the dangers they encounter, and how they are avoided. The messages in the book aim to help children recognise everyday dangers and learn how to keep themselves safe.
Fourteen primary schools across Bradford have been invited to the book launch tomorrow at the Bulls’ home at Odsal Stadium.
The story will be read to the year three pupils and they will get a book to take home.
Hazel Ha, child safety co-ordinator for Bradford and Airedale tPCT, said: “Child Safety Week highlights accidents as one of the biggest causes of child deaths.
“Every week up to six children and young people die due to accidents and over 2,000 children and young people are admitted to hospital with their injuries. We want children to enjoy active and healthy lives and this book aims to relate to them and help them understand how to reduce the risk of accidents while having fun.” Dave Gibbons, Bradford Bulls community development manager, said: “We are delighted to launch this book in partnership with the NHS and the Bradford Bulls Foundation.
“Safety is a very important message for children, and this fantastic book will be an excellent classroom resource.”
