Joe Vagana brought home the bacon from Perpignan.
His try against Catalans won the giant prop a welcome bonus – a tasty pig!
While boarding the flight to France, Bulls director Roland Agar made the costly wager with Bulls’ meat-loving forward.
Roland knows the way to the player’s heart and, having seen Vagana get his second try of the season, the wholesale butcher challenged him to make it three in Perpignan. The prize would be a personally delivered, prime, succulent hog all for his own devouring.
It was a safe bet. Big Joe crossed against Harlequins last week so his next touchdown wouldn’t be due probably until some time in 2008.
But the prospect of that pig slowly roasting must have driven Joe crazy. That – and maybe with the food not being so great in their hotel – saw him charge over in style.
Roland’s £80 lighter, the BBQ’s at Joe’s and the next bet is how long it’ll take for the beast to be polished off. Les, no doubt, will be around to help.
