Stuart McCall is casting his net far and wide to unearth the talent capable of dragging City back out of the basement division.
The training ground – or wherever they’ve found dry enough to kick a ball on – has been bursting with unfamiliar faces hoping to catch the gaffer’s eye and win themselves a contract.
It seems anyone wants to try and get a game – even our photographer …
T&A snapper Andy Garbutt was sent down to take some training pictures the other day. But when McCall shouted a cheery greeting, our man completely misheard him and thought he was being asked to play.
“I’m not a trialist, I’m a photographer,” came the panicky response, waving his camera in the air as proof as the City boss cracked up.
He may share a haircut with new signing Barry Conlon (though I can’t really talk on that score) but Andy’s only other similarity to a professional footballer is owning two feet. And in his case, much like mine, they are both left ones.
