TWO men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash near Bradford city centre.
The incident took place at 9.50pm on Sunday (December 1) on Shipley Airedale Road.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Road Policing Unit spotted a vehicle that failed to stop for them on Barkerend Road, the force said.
Minutes later, the vehicle - a Renault Clio - was in collision with a Mercedes G Wagon on Shipley Airedale Road.
Two men, aged 34 and 24, from the Renault Clio were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Three people in the Mercedes were taken to hospital with injuries believed to be minor.
The road remains closed this morning as police carry out enquiries and recover the vehicles involved.
Police conduct watchdog involved
Due to the police contact prior to the crash, West Yorkshire Police has informed the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
This is mandatory in these circumstances, a police spokesperson confirmed.
A spokesperson for the IOPC said: "We have been made aware by West Yorkshire Police of a serious collision in Bradford involving a car that reportedly failed to stop for police.
"We will assess the available information to determine whether an investigation is required."

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 21.50 yesterday (1 December) officers from the Roads Policing Unit sighted a vehicle which failed to stop for them on Barkerend Road, Bradford.
"A few minutes later the vehicle a Renault Clio was in collision with another vehicle a Mercedes G Wagon on Shipley Airedale Road.
"Two men aged 34 and 24 years old from the Renault Clio were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"Three people in the Mercedes were taken to hospital with injuries believed to be minor.
"The road remains closed this morning whilst police carry out enquiries and facilitate recovery of the vehicles involved.
"Due to the prior police contact, the Independent Office for Police Conduct have been informed which is mandatory in these circumstances.
