A FATHER has spoken of his pride after his son earned a contract with a professional football academy.

Youngster Stoney Brown has signed on the dotted line at the Bradford City academy.

It comes following his success with BEAP and Bradford City development centre, which he joined in April last year.

The partnership was established in 2022 and provides opportunities for local communities on their football journeys.

The centre offers a pathway into the professional game, supporting young players to develop their skills and fulfil their potential.

Stoney's father, Trinity Brown, shared his heartfelt gratitude for those who have helped his son.

Mr Brown said: "I would like to say a massive thanks to Ishy, Anwar, Imran and the rest of the team at the BEAP DV centre for all the hard work they do week in week out, coaching young children and providing opportunities for them to be able to learn, grow, develop and enjoy football.

"My son Stoney first joined the development squad in April 2023, and by the end of July 2024 he was given an award at the BEAP sports presentation for the 'Most Improved' player at the development centre.

"I am happy to say that the academy have now offered Stoney a contract.

"Stoney is far from the finished product but the coaching staff do see his potential of what he eventually could be.

"Again, massive thanks to the staff at BEAP and just as a reminder to all parents to trust the process of what the coaches are doing and allow your child to play and enjoy their football."

Hiron Miah, Chair of BEAP, said: “This is exactly why BEAP/Bradford City DC was established to give local young people the opportunity to develop their talent and pursue their dreams.

"Stoney’s achievement is a shining example of what can happen when dedication meets opportunity, and we couldn’t be more proud.”

Ishfaq Hussain, Head Coach at BEAP DC, added: “Stoney’s journey has been remarkable.

"His determination and willingness to learn have been key to his progress, and this academy contract is well-deserved.

"At BEAP/ Bradford City DC, we aim to create a supportive pathway for young players, and seeing them achieve their goals is the ultimate reward for all of us.”
