FOUR vehicles stopped by police in the last week have been seized for a variety of insurance issues, including one from a driver who produced a fake certificate.
West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team - the force's dedicated initiative for tackling anti-social and dangerous driving - posted on its Facebook page over the last three days about several vehicles that were seized.
One was a white Seat in Bradford Road, Cottingley, Shipley.
A spokesperson for the team said: "A routine stop of this Seat became a problem for the driver who produced a temporary insurance certificate that was found to be fake."
"As a new driver (less than 2 years) they now face losing their licence."
The vehicle was seized and the driver reported.
Police had a warning to issue in relation to one of the other vehicles.
The Steerside spokesperson said: "When renting a car, you still need to ensure that you have sufficient insurance cover in place."
The message came after officers stopped a black Volkswagen GTD on Wrose Road.
The driver was "unable to provide any proof of cover" for the rented car.
It was seized and the driver reported.
Meanwhile, the team left a driver with "plenty of time to admire" a "cracking view" from Hebden Bridge Road, in Oxenhope after seizing a white Mercedes SL500 AMG.
Checks showed it had no insurance or vehicle excise licence.
The Steerside spokesperson said: "Cracking view from Hebden Bridge Road, Oxenhope West Yorkshire Police - Keighley. The countryside, of course.
"The driver of this Mercedes-Benz Cars UK had plenty of time to admire it after we seized the vehicle for no insurance or vehicle excise licence."
Finally, the team posted about a grey Vauxhall Astra they stopped on Rooley Lane yesterday afternoon.
Officers discovered the driver was uninsured and they were reported, as well as the vehicle being seized.
