FLORAL tributes and heartfelt messages have been left at the scene of a fatal crash.

Police were called at 12.59am on Saturday by paramedics, who were attending a single-vehicle collision in Moorhead Lane in Shipley, at the junction with Beechwood Avenue.

The driver, a 34-year-old Bradford man named locally as Mohammed Wahid, was given emergency treatment but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, floral tributes and touching messages have been placed at the scene in memory of Mr Wahid.

"You were the kind of brother I will never forget."

Another person's message read: "Always in my thoughts, a dear brother. Loved and missed every day.

"May Allah give you the Highest Rank in Jannah, Ameen."

People have also taken to the T&A Facebook page to share their tributes.

Claire Louise said: "Such a lovely man."

Pav Iqbal added: "He was a good lad. Always had a smile on his face."

Residents also spoke of their sadness.

"I don't how people and families process it," said one person.

"A life cut short like that very distressing. It's just really, really sad. Bless him and his family."

Another said: "I was in bed when it happened. It's very sad indeed.

"One of my neighbours told a group of us what happened. We all were very upset."

Police statement 

In a full statement about the crash, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a road traffic collision in Shipley.

"At 12.59am on Saturday, police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending a single vehicle collision in Moorhead Lane at the junction with Beechwood Avenue.

"A blue Renault Captur, which had been travelling north-east towards Saltaire, had collided with a wall.

"The driver, a 34-year-old man from Bradford, was given emergency treatment but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

"A road closure has remained in place while the scene is being cleared.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle being driven in the area in the time leading up to it, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact them."
