THERE are severe delays on a motorway near Bradford this morning after a crash involving five vehicles.
The collision has happened on the westbound carriageway of the M62, between junction 26 (Chain Bar/M606) and junction 25 (Brighouse).
West Yorkshire Police was called to the scene at 6.45am.
National Highways first reported it as involving two vans but a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said the crash was between five vehicles.
Lee Veevers-Fearnley was heading to work in Huddersfield from Bradford when he was caught up in the traffic shortly after the collision happened.
He said a car and a lorry crashed, before a van then went into the back of the lorry followed by another HGV.
Mr Veevers-Fearnley added that it happened in the middle lane of the motorway.
The West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said it is a "damage-only collision".
Three lanes were shut initially while the situation was dealt with and traffic was held.
Lanes one and two remain closed, as well as the exit slip-road at Hartshead Moor Services in order to assist with this.
Huge queues are building on the M62 and a spokesperson for National Highways said there are 45-minute delays.
Motorway cameras showed static traffic stretching for miles on the carriageway earlier this morning.
The average speed of traffic was down to 20 miles per hour at junction 26 and four miles per hour at junction 27, according to the National Highways website.
The National Highways spokesperson said: "National Highways traffic officers are on scene awaiting recovery. Please allow extra journey time."
