A REUNION has brought a Bradford school’s class of 1974 back together after 50 years.
Almost 30 people who attended Tong Comprehensive School met up for the special anniversary.
The class attended Tong Comprehensive from 1969 to 1974.
The anniversary was celebrated at East Bowling Club and photos were taken by former teacher Paddy Symonds.
Speaking about the efforts behind the scenes, Helen Firth, who helped organise the event, said: “Trying to get in touch with people was a hard job.”
Former pupil Pauline said the reunion brought back memories of her family’s old sweet shop, Goldsbroughs, which used to be on Tong Street.
It was in her family for 50 years. The shop was originally started by her Grandad, known as ‘Sweet Shop Harry’, who served in the First World War.
The shop was popular with school pupils at the time.
She said: “There was a lot of shops, there was bakers, fish shops. My dad made his own ice cream, it was like a Mr Whippy in a shop.”
She added: “It’s nice seeing people that you hadn’t seen for a long time and how they’ve changed.
“People enjoyed it and they were talking about what they’d been up to.”
