THE man who died in a tragic crash on a Bradford road in the early hours of this morning has been named locally.

Police were called at 12.59am today (Saturday) to the scene of a crash which took place at the junction of Moorhead Lane and Beechwood Grove in Shipley.

A man was given emergency treatment at the scene but died a short time later.

The man has been named locally as Mohammed Wahid, 34, and this morning his death was reported on Muslim bereavement service Janaza Announcements, who said he passed away in a "tragic crash".

His funeral date and burial have yet to be confirmed.

In a full statement about the crash, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a road traffic collision in Shipley.

"At 12.59am this morning, police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending a single vehicle collision in Moorhead Lane at the junction with Beechwood Grove.

"A blue Renault Captur, which had been travelling north-east towards Saltaire, had collided with a wall.

"The driver, a 34-year-old man from Bradford, was given emergency treatment but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

"A road closure has remained in place while the scene is being cleared.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle being driven in the area in the time leading up to it, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact them.
