BOMB experts have confirmed that an old hand grenade found during a the clear out of a property was not live.
Emergency services were called yesterday afternoon to the scene at Hillside Close, Addingham, and a cordon was put in place.
But today, police have issued an update to confirm that the grenade was not live.
"Army bomb disposal experts confirmed an old hand grenade found during a clear out of a property in Addingham yesterday was not live.
"A cordon was put in place around the address in Hillside Close, Addingham, and nearby residents evacuated as a precaution after police were contacted at 3.51pm.
"The cordon was lifted shortly before 6.30pm when the all-clear was given.
"We thank residents for their patience and understanding while the incident was brought to a safe conclusion."
