A LONG-STANDING curry house says claiming a Telegraph & Argus gong is "probably the best" award they have ever won.
Earlier this month, thousands of nominations for the T&A’s Best Curry House 2024 competition poured in with readers favourite eateries eventually being whittled down to 10 finalists.
We can now reveal International, on Morley Street in the city centre, came through the tough field to be named the winner.
Since opening in 1976, the popular eatery has grabbed numerous awards both locally and nationally.
Reacting to the news, Safeer Khan, who runs the restaurant, said: "Wow! That's all I can say.
"It's an amazing feeling to have won best curry house in Bradford.
"Whilst we have won many awards in the past few years, to win this is probably the best.
"It's run by the T&A which is the most relevant news outlet in the region."
Mr Khan feels privileged to have won the competition over some of Bradford's other renowned curry giants.
He also explained what he thought made International stand out.
"I feel there were some great curry houses that reached the final," Mr Khan said.
"I feel the reason we have won is because our food, service, and décor is unrivalled.
"We give the complete package and an ultimate culinary experience like no other."
He added: "I think you can have the best food but the key is consistency.
"In Bradford, where you have so many fantastic restaurants and the best curry houses in the UK, if not the world, you have to be spot on.
"I would reiterate the fact that this would not be possible without our loyal customers once again for voting for us online and then via the coupons.
"They have supported us over the past 48 years and continue to do so. We are forever grateful."
Mr Khan was also keen to pay tribute to the founders of International - his father and grandfather.
He said: "I must remember the two people without whose hard work and dreams this would not be possible.
"My dad and grandad - Mohammed Bashir and Abdul Rehman - founded the restaurant in 1976.
"The hard work they put in is what has made International a household name and brand.
"Thank you all and we hope to keep serving you as always and your supports is always appreciated."
