STAFF at Bradford Royal Infirmary have been celebrating a Sikh festival.
Bandi Chhor Divas – also known as Bandi Chhor Dihara – celebrates the day when the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind, was released from prison in 1619.
The name translates to ‘Day of Liberation’.
The festival is celebrated to symbolise freedom, justice, and the Sikh values of equality and compassion.
The event was celebrated at Bradford Infirmary by Sikh staff with food, including samosas, pakoras and sweet dishes.
The team of organisers behind the event said: “Thanks to Guru Nanak Dev Gurdwara and the savadars who helped us to prepare langer there.”
