MEMBERS of the public are being invited to put questions to West Yorkshire's Mayor Tracy Brabin at a ticketed event in Bradford.
Questions must be submitted in advance for the West Yorkshire Mayor's Question Time event, which will be held at the city's Kala Sangam Arts Centre from 7.30pm on December 5.
Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, leader of Bradford Council, and Alison Lowe, West Yorkshire's Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, will also be in attendance.
According to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), questions people submit will be "reviewed and shortlisted by the independent host".
The independent host will be Asian Standard journalist Fatima Patel, who will "ensure that the questions cover a broad range of topics", WYCA said.
She will choose between six and eight questions, and the Mayor will not see them in advance, according to WYCA.
Mayor Brabin said: "Having the opportunity to meet your elected leaders, ask them questions and hold them to account is vital for our democracy.
"We cannot create a prosperous, happy, well-connected, sustainable and safe West Yorkshire without listening to the views of everyone across our great region.
"Hearing directly from the people I represent at these events will help us deliver on our shared mission to build a brighter West Yorkshire that works for all."
Ms Patel said: "Question Time with Mayor Brabin is more than just an event - it’s a vital platform for our diverse communities to speak directly to leadership, challenge the status quo and seek accountability.
"For our communities to truly thrive and excel, we must embrace open, transparent and fearless conversations that pave the way for real change, and I am delighted and honoured to be facilitating some of that change by chairing the next Question Time."
A WYCA spokesperson said: "Tickets and questions must be booked and submitted in advance.
"This is so that we can ensure that the venue is prepared for all ticketholders and that the event runs smoothly.
"The questions submitted will be reviewed and shortlisted by the independent host who will ensure that the questions cover a broad range of topics.
"We encourage you to submit your question as early as possible so that the host has time to fully consider it before shortlisting the questions that will feature at the event.
"If time permits, there may be a possibility to ask a question on the night too."
