A PLAN to build a chicken hut at Fold Barn, Long Syke Edge, Cowling Hill, has been submitted to North Yorkshire Council.
A sustainable design and construction statement with the application states that the building will be sited within 2.6 acres of agricultural land at Fold Barn.
It states: "The building will be utilized for a small chicken house - the flock of approximately 26 to 30 hens includes re-homed ex-battery hens - within the building with a pop hole in the exterior wall of the building, storage of feedstuffs and equipment and an area for looking after ill or injured livestock."
The building will not be heated, but it will have energy efficient lighting and solar panels on the south facing roof to provide 100 per cent renewable energy.
