A BRADFORD singer has been banned from driving after he was caught speeding.
Gareth Gates, who shot to fame on Pop Idol in the early noughties, committed the offence in Wales earlier this year.
Gates, of Keighley, drove a Land Rover at 62mph on the 50mph limit on the Pentyla Seaway Parade Bridge, near Junction 41 of the M4 on April 6.
The 40-year-old was slapped with a six-month ban after he was given three penalty points which put him over the 11 point threshold for disqualification.
Gates, who grew up in West Bowling, was ordered to also pay a financial penalty totalling £304.
This was broken down into a £153 fine, costs of £90 to South Wales Police and a victim surcharge of £61.
Last month, the Bradfordian kicked off his UK tour of ‘Gareth Gates sings Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons’.
