POLICE in West Yorkshire are reminding drivers to use their headlights at night - after some were spotted not doing so.
Officers carried out patrols in the Roberttown and Hartshead areas of Kirklees one night earlier this week.
Police said they noticed some drivers were only using side lights and not their headlights.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "As winter draws in, automatic lights may not always react perfectly in every situation.
"We would like to urge all road users to make sure they're seen and safe using appropriate vehicle settings."
The Highway Code states "you must use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced", with 'seriously reduced' defined as when you are able to see less than 100m in front of you.
This means they should be turned on at night-time and during bad weather.
