POLICE have pledged to target offenders who use the Spen Valley Greenway when committing crimes.
Officers in the Cleckheaton area are putting an increased focus on burglary and theft offences.
As part of this work, officers have revealed that the Kirklees off road bike team will be deployed to the Greenway in an effort to snare criminals who use the popular walking and cycling route to facilitate their offending.
Setting out their neighbourhood policing priorities, the area's NPT pledged to "disrupt and arrest offenders and undertake high visibility patrols. To disrupt and locate nominals committing burglary and theft of motor vehicles offences.
"We plan to deal with this issue by increasing high visibility patrols in the area, also utilising the Kirklees off road bike team who can target offenders using the Spen Valley Greenway."
Officers said anti-social behaviour problems in Cleckheaton town centre had eased following targeted work from police.
