HOUSEHOLDERS across the Bradford district are being warned to be on their guard against bogus traders.

West Yorkshire Police have issued the warning after a series of incidents targeting elderly people.

On one occasion, a man purporting to be a roofer called at an address in Nashville Terrace, Keighley.

"He attended with no prior appointment – claiming to have carried out some repairs on the roof and requesting payment," says a police spokesperson.

"The man also offered to give a quote to carry out further work on the roof.

"He followed the victim into her address, despite being asked to remain outside.

"The man left when the victim refused to pay, and there are no reports of anything having been stolen on this occasion."

The incident occurred at around 3pm on October 28.

The man is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, aged between mid 30s and 40, of medium build and clean shaven. He was smartly dressed.

Anyone with information should call West Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting crime occurrence 13240621503.

The spokesperson adds: "There has been a series of similar incidents targeting elderly victims in the Keighley area."
