THE opening date for a new discount retailer in the Bradford district has been revealed.
Plans to build a huge new Home Bargains store at Shipley Wharf Retail Park were approved in April 2023.
The store in the retail park, located at the junction of Salts Mill Road and Otley Road, is next to the Lidl and Costa.
When the Telegraph & Argus visited today, Home Bargains signs were up.
A banner said the store would be opening on Saturday, January 25.
Although plans for the large store were approved last year, the building’s location within the “buffer zone” for the nearby Saltaire World Heritage Site meant any signage planned for the building also needed to be approved by Bradford Council before being installed.
This May, Home Bargains agreed to reduce the size of its bright red signs on its new store after concerns were raised they could harm views of the UNESCO site.
The retailer said it would install more “modest” signage on its new store after Conservation Officers hit out at the “massive” branding originally planned for the building.
Home Bargains is recruiting for the store and advised those interested to visit jobs.homebargains.co.uk
