Protests are set to take place today in Leeds against government cuts to winter fuel payments.
The demonstrations, organised by the Unite trade union and the Yorkshire and Humber Pensioners' Convention (YHPC), will be held at Dortmund Square, The Headrow, and are scheduled to begin at 12pm.
The protests will take place near the constituency of Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves.
A spokesperson for Unite said today's protests are part of a series of actions by Unite, aimed at highlighting the "harm being done by cuts to pensioners' incomes."
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: "The campaign opposing the pickpocketing of pensioners is now coming to the Chancellor's own back yard.
"Her own constituents don't support the policy and neither does the rest of the country.
"The government needs to rapidly rethink this tin-eared cut.
"It is simply wrong that winter fuel payments have been slashed while the mega wealthy remain untouched."
A Unite spokesperson said the union has also "begun legal action by instigating a judicial review of the government's policy," due to believing that the government has acted unlawfully.
The spokesperson also suggested a one per cent tax on the 50 richest families in Britain, who (they said) are worth collectively £500 billion and which would therefore generate £25 billion.
