Drivers are facing long delays on the M62 after emergency crews shut part of the motorway to tackle a coach fire.
Emergency services closed part of the M62 near Huddersfield after the fire broke out around 11.15am today (November 13).
Firefighters ordered for the eastbound section of the motorway to be closed between Junction 23 and Junction 24.
Drivers are facing delays of 90 mins and approximately five miles of congestion.
Traffic is not expected to return to normal for some time.
Fire crews from Huddersfield, Rastrick and Slaithwaite attended the incident.
Firefighters have since extinguished the fire and no injuries have been reported.
A clean up and recovery operation is now underway.
In the latest update, National Highways' Yorkshire team said: "Lane 1 is now CLOSED on the #M62 eastbound between J23 and J24 near #Huddersfield for recovery and clear up works following a coach fire. There are currently delays of 90 mins and approx. 5 miles of congestion."
Statement from the fire service
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "We were called at 11.16 this morning to reports of a large vehicle on fire on the Eastbound carriage of the M62 at junction23/24.
"We sent three crews, Huddersfield, Rastrick and Slaithwaite.
"Crews extinguished the fire and are leaving the scene – no reports on our log of any injuries."
