A BRADFORD mosque has been shortlisted for a special award at a prestigious national ceremony.

The Bayt Al Qaim Centre, located on Bolton Lane, is up for the Best Madrassah Service gong in the British Beacon Mosque Awards 2024.

The judges of this category are looking for "commendations relating to management competence, in organising events, programmes, services, working with different communities, sharing their expertise, approachability and integrity".

On the Bradford centre, a spokesperson for the awards said: "Bayt al Qaim Madrassah provides a nurturing, inclusive, and innovative environment where children receive quality Islamic education through the MUS syllabus, themed topics like the 'Green Madressa' and essential life skills, supported by programs for SEND students, career guidance, charity initiatives, and engaging workshops.

"With impressive achievements such as raising £10,000 for Palestine, a structured rewards system, and impactful events like the 'Love Thy Neighbour'project, Bayt al Qaim Madressa is a model institution of community and educational excellence, making it an outstanding candidate for the Best Madrassah Award."

With an expected attendance of 500 guests, the awards ceremony will be held on November 23 in Greater Manchester.
