THE remains of a building destroyed by fire over three years ago can be demolished to allow the redevelopment of the site.

Planning officers have this week approved the demolition of the former Adams Fast Food Supplies on Thorncliffe Road, Manningham, describing the mangled remains of the building as “an unsightly feature.”

Fire crews were called to the street on June 2021 after a faulty electrical appliance caused a fierce blaze to rip through the building.

Since then the building has remained derelict.

A planning application to demolish the building was submitted by Copperplate Development Ltd last month. It said the site will then be “redeveloped to provide a new unit.”

The site is near Valley Parade and the Apsley Crescent Conservation Area.

Approving the demolition, planners said: “The intention is to construct a new building on the site, but there will be a period following demolition whilst Planning Permission is sought for the redevelopment proposals.

“It will permit redevelopment of the site, removing the unsightly feature and providing for an area that can be redeveloped.”
