A BRADFORD MP has said joining police officers on a patrol ahead of Bonfire Night was an "eye-opening experience".

Last Friday, Labour MP Judith Cummins (Bradford South) joined Bradford South Inspector Adam Beecroft.

The team patrolled anti-social hotspots across her constituency on the night.

Ms Cummins heard how planning for fireworks season started months in advance in the joint approach between the police, fire service, Council and other agencies.

They told her more bobbies on the beat meant that neighbourhood police could quickly identify and tackle anti-social behaviour.

Ms Cummins said: “Bonfire week is one of the most challenging periods for our emergency services.

"It was an eye-opening experience to join Inspector Beecroft and his team on one of their evening patrols.”

“I am grateful to all the emergency services and partners whose hard work has ensured that residents have been able to enjoy this bonfire period safely and responsibly.”

Insp Beecroft added: “A lot of planning between police and partners goes on in the lead up to ensure that Bonfire night is a safe and enjoyable night for the community.

"Both police and partners worked tirelessly to ensure that Bradford South went largely without incident."
