A NEW survey has revealed the happiest place to live in the Bradford district.
Furniture online store Furniturebox polled 5,000 people, with panels in each big city and county.
Locations were ranked according to the beauty of the surroundings and green spaces, provision of good state schools and affordable housing, as well as access to quality pubs, restaurants, independent shops and cultural attractions.
Bingley ranked happiest place in Bradford
Bingley was the highest-rated location in the city - followed by Shipley, Saltaire, Ilkley, and Wyke.
Bingley was 16th on the main national list which was won by Stratford-upon-Avon followed by Harrogate in second place.
Nearby Halifax ranked 22nd, while Meanwood in Leeds (45th), and Doncaster (59th) also featured on the 70-place UK list.
Town has "remarkable educational scene"

The survey praised Bingley's "remarkable educational scene" and labelled it an "inviting prospect" to live in.
Areas such as the "quaint hamlet of Beckfoot" and the "tranquil St Ives Estate" were highlighted.
Venues The Brown Cow and the Peacock Bar were also mentioned as popular spots.
The survey's description read: "Bingley boasts a remarkable educational scene with a high percentage of schools rated outstanding.
"This, along with elements such as the quaint hamlet of Beckfoot, the tranquil St Ives Estate, and a good selection of local independent shops, bars, and restaurants, make living in Bingley an inviting prospect.
"Beckfoot School is rated as outstanding by Ofsted and Bingley Grammar School has an excellent reputation. Beckfoot Priestthorpe Primary is rated as good.
"The Brown Cow in Harden Road and the Peacock Bar in Wellington Street are popular pubs."
Survey shows 'happiest places are not defined by wealth'
A Furniturebox spokesperson said: “Bingley is the happiest place to live in Bradford.
“All 70 places on the list would have been worthy winners and show why the UK is such a wonderful place to live, loved by visitors from all over the world.
“Most of the locations in the top 70 are not the most affluent in their localities and have access to some affordable housing.
"The survey shows that the happiest places are not defined by wealth but by the quality of life within them.”
Furniturebox was founded by former school friends Monty George and Dan Beckles, both aged 26, eight years ago and is said to rival Dunelm, Habitat and Ikea when it comes to furniture.
