AN elderly man is fighting for his life after a crash involving a lorry on a major road.
The collision happened on Otley Road, in Guiseley at 10.10am today, outside the Philip Kirkby Jeweller building and new Morrisons.
It involved an 88-year-old pedestrian and a white Scania HGV lorry, which was travelling towards Menston.
The pedestrian, a man, was rushed to hospital with serious leg and hip injuries.
Yorkshire Police said: "These are being considered as life-threatening due to his age."
In an update provided this evening, a spokesperson for WestThe driver of the lorry was spoken to by officers at the scene.
A police cordon was in place for much of today, with a number of officers spotted at the scene.
Police are now also appealing for information in relation to the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the movements of either the lorry or pedestrian immediately prior to it, should contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101, or by using the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website.
