THE site of a demolished care centre will go under the hammer as part of Bradford Council’s efforts to balance its budget.

The Council hopes to raise over £100m by selling over 150 assets, including land, buildings and ex public facilities.

The sales are one of a number of measures, which also include cuts and cost rises to stave off bankruptcy.

On Tuesday a plot of land in Keighley will be the latest Council asset to be sold off at auction.

A 1.4 acre site in Keighley that was once home to the Holme Wood Resource Centre has a guide price of £325,000 in the online auction by Pugh Property that lasts until Wednesday.

In 2013 Bradford Council revealed the Holme Wood Centre was among social day-care centres earmarked for closure as part of cost cutting measures.

It was demolished in 2022, with the Council saying it had been unable to find another suitable use for the building.

The auction listing says: “The site is located in a residential area of Keighley and appears suitable for development.”

Other Council owned properties going to auction include a vacant house in Riddlesden that has a guide price of £100,000 and 108 White Abbey Road – a vacant terraced property that has a guide price of £65,000.
