A MAN who sold cocaine to pay off a large drug debt has been jailed for 27 months at Bradford Crown Court.

Police who raided Mohammed Ifzal’s home on September 14, 2022, found 18 grip seal bags of cocaine in his bedroom along with phones and drug paraphernalia including weighing scales.

Prosecutor Jemima Stephenson-Finn said Ifzal was arrested and taken into custody where he gave “no comment” answers to questions.

When his phones were examined, police found text messages indicative of drug-dealing including a bulk message sent the day before his arrest to prospective clients advertising drugs for sale.

Cocaine worth £360 – weighing 3.15g – was recovered from his home.

Ifzal, now 22, of Arum Street, Bradford, was said to have no previous convictions. He later pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.

Mitigating, Esther Bukoye said Ifzal was a heavy drug user who had been selling drugs to fund his habit and to pay off a drug debt of between £15,000 and £20,000.

She described him as “deeply remorseful”.

Jailing Ifzal, Miss Recorder Kama Melly said it was clear that he was “engaged heavily in the onward supply of drugs”.

She said: “You were offering the drugs for sale and then making them available to people.”

She ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs and paraphernalia.
