A MOTORBIKE rider is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a police chase, it has been revealed tonight.

A stretch of Harrogate Road remains closed after the collision involving the bike and a red Vauxhall Corsa this afternoon.

The motorbike had reportedly failed to stop for police in the Eccleshill area at around 1.20pm.

A second male suffered serious injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been notified. 

The cordon is still in place between Leeds Old Road and Moorside Road.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 1.19pm today (Monday), a motorcycle was reported to have failed to stop for police in the Eccleshill area of Bradford.

"The motorcycle, which had two males on board, was sighted on Harrogate Road travelling towards the city centre.

"Within a short time of a pursuit being authorised, a collision occurred which also involved a red Vauxhall Corsa.

"The two riders remain in hospital, with one of them having suffered what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

"The second male suffered serious injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

"No other injuries were reported.

"Road closures remain in place and an investigation has begun into how the collision occurred.

"The Independent Office for Police Conduct has also been notified.  

"Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact police on 101, or by using the livechat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website. 

"The log reference is 726 of 28 October."
