A CAR became lodged into a roundabout after a late-night crash in Bradford.
The collision happened at the mini roundabout where Salts Mill Road and Victoria Street meet in Shipley on Friday evening.
West Yorkshire Police said it was called to the scene at 11.18pm last night.
John Airnes, 42, lives at the nearby Victoria Mills complex and said he spotted the vehicle at about 11.30pm on his way back from a night out with friends.
He added: “It must have happened around 11.30pm as myself and a couple of friends had just returned on the train from Leeds having been to see the night lights there, and got back home to Victoria Mills just after it had happened.”
The car, a red Nissan Qashqai, was facing towards Victoria Street and was mounted on the mini roundabout, with its front lifted in the air and just a single wheel touching the surface.
Two of the three signs on the roundabout were completely destroyed in the crash, while there was debris from the street furniture and car littered across the road.
This included part of the vehicle’s bumper and its front-right wheel arch was badly damaged as well.
John said: “Think it’s fair to say it was a surprise, a car mounted on a roundabout is not what you expect to see outside where you live when you return from an evening out.”
A police car could be seen at the scene, blocking traffic coming from Victoria Street to the roundabout, and an officer looked to be speaking to an individual.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said the crash was “damage-only”.
