EMERGENCY services were scrambled to a Bradford district street this afternoon after a roof collapsed on a building.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the incident on Dalton Lane, Keighley.

Pictures show scaffolding collapsed on to a car and stones on the road, which remains closed.

Officials said the building is "as safe as possible".

It is not yet known what caused the roof to collapse. 

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said earlier: "We were called today at 11.04am to a report of a collapsed structure.

"We have fire engines from Bradford, Shipley and Keighley, the technical rescue team and the aerial ladder platform in attendance.

"Ambulance and police are also in attendance."

Shortly before 3.30pm, the spokesperson said: "WYFRS personnel and crew are currently leaving the incident.

"The structure is as safe as possible."

A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received an emergency call at 11.36am today to a report of a roof collapse.

"A number of ambulance resources are currently on scene."

The spokesperson said no injuries were reported as of 11.36am.

Bradford Council's building control team was also at the scene offering structural advice. 

A Council spokesperson said shortly after 2pm: "To allow the emergency services to deal with the incident, Dalton Lane will be closed in the area."
