TWO men were injured in two separate crashes that caused major delays on a Bradford road. 

A motorbike rider was rushed to hospital after sustaining injuries in a crash at the junction of Park Road and Harrogate Road, Eccleshill, just after 4pm on Thursday. 

Then before 5pm, a man was injured in a crash between a car and a lorry on New Line Road, Greengates, near the Harrogate Road junction.

The two crashes caused major disruption on roads in the area.

West Yorkshire Police has issued an appeal for information about the bike crash. 

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision between a car and a motorbike in Bradford.

“Officers from the West Area Roads Policing Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw or has footage of the collision which took place at about 4.11pm at the junction of Harrogate Road and Park Road on Thursday, October 24.

“The collision occurred after a Toyota Auris private hire taxi, which was turning right onto Park Road, was in collision with the motorbike.

“The male rider, an 18-year-old man, received serious injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital.

“He continues to be treated for injuries which are not being treated as life-threatening or life changing."

The spokesperson added: “Officers spoke with the private hire driver at the scene but it is believed the motorbike was removed by third parties prior to police arrival.

“Anyone who saw or had footage of the collision or had any information as to the whereabouts of the motorbike involved is asked to contact the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101 referencing police number 13240580692.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) said: “We received an emergency call at 4.06pm on Thursday afternoon to report a collision between a car and moped at the junction of Park Road and Harrogate Road, Bradford.

“Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Leeds General Infirmary.”

The second crash, outside the New Line pub, was reported at 4.49pm. 

“A male was reported to have been trapped in a car, a VW Golf, after a collision with a truck," said the police spokesperson. 

“The truck driver was not injured.”

“The VW Golf driver, 69, was treated by the ambulance service.”

A West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Two fire engines attended New Line at 4.58pm.

"Crews attended a road traffic collision between one car and a heavy goods vehicle.

"One person was trapped and sustained pelvic injuries."
