TWO crashes have caused mass disruption on a major Bradford route this evening.

A police cordon is in place as the stretch of Harrogate Road between Ruswarp Crescent to Ravenscliffe Avenue is currently closed.

The Telegraph & Argus has approached West Yorkshire Police for a comment.

First crash between car and moped at Park Road junction

The first collision occurred just after 4pm between a car and a moped at the junction of Park Road.

Two ambulances attended the scene and a police cordon was put in place.

One person was rushed to hospital following the incident.

Second crash between car and lorry at New Line junction

The second crash happened less than an hour later when a car and lorry collided at the New Line junction.

One person was trapped and sustained pelvic injuries, said the fire service.

One local resident said: "There's been a massive crash on Harrogate Road at Greengates.

"Sounds like it involved a lorry.

"Loads of flashing lights around.

"My wife had to find another route home."

Emergency services statements

On the first crash, a spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) said: "We received an emergency call at 4.06pm on Thursday afternoon to report a collision between a car and moped at the junction of Park Road and Harrogate Road, Bradford.

"Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Leeds General Infirmary."

On the second crash, a West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Two fire engines attended New Line at 4.58pm.

"Crews attended a road traffic collision between one car and a heavy goods vehicle (HGV).

"One person was trapped and sustained pelvic injuries."
