A spokesperson for Antiques At The Mill said: “Back in 1973, Cullingworth Mills was a sorry-sight. Following a major fire, much of the complex had to be demolished and the rest of the buildings lay unused or neglected for many years.

“Fast-forward 40 years and brother and sister duo, Julia Richardson and Chris Harney, made the bold decision to buy what was left of the mill complex and develop it to include a large antiques and collectables store.

“Antiques At The Mill was born in October 2014 and since then they haven’t looked back.”

The shop is managed by Phil Marshall who is supported by Helen, Julia and Chris’ mum, Janet, who runs the shop at weekends.

Antiques At The Mill retails vintage items including militaria, ceramics, glassware, furniture, coins, jewellery, vinyl records, books, paintings and collectables.

They sell antiques on behalf of over 70 dealers whom each rent a shelf, cabinet and/or piece of floor space.

Phil said: “The store is open seven days a week and often people travel from miles away to browse.

“We are known for being a family business and we offer a friendly and warm welcome.

“Consequently, customers often make a visit to us into a day out as they like to spend some time here as there is so much to look at.”

For people who cannot visit as often as they like, Phil said: “For those people who may be passionate about antiques or interested in collecting, but live further away, we try to share what we can on our social media and allow them to reserve items.”

In celebration of their 10th birthday this October, the team has said shoppers who spend £20 or more will receive a stylish reusable shopper bag celebrating the anniversary. The bags are available from today (Thursday, October 24) onwards while stocks last.

The spokesperson added: “The story of the business is a real “phoenix from the ashes” tale and Antiques At The Mill is proud to be a part of a thriving community, bringing business into the village of Cullingworth and helping maintain the iconic building for decades to come.”

The business was recently named a finalist in the Keighley and Airedale Business Awards.
