The Huddersfield Choral Society (HCS) has announced its 2024/25 season programme, with four concerts taking place from November 2 to April 5.
The season will see an internationally renowned baritone showcase his talent; a performance of what has been considered 'the Great English Oratorio'; and more.
The concerts kick off on November 2 with Let All The World In Every Corner Sing!, featuring well-respected baritone Roderick Williams OBE.
He will perform at Huddersfield Town Hall alongside the choir, with pieces by Vaughan Williams, Imogen Holst, and Fauré.
A Christmas Concert on December 6 will feature the British Sinfonietta, the 'mighty' Father Willis organ, and the 'massed ranks of HCS and the award-winning HCS Youth Choirs.'
The Christmas Concert is touted as a perfect introduction to the 'Huddersfield Sound' for uninitiates.
On December 21, the choir will perform Handel's Messiah, as per annual tradition.
The final performance of the season will be The Dream of Gerontius on April 5, 2025.
Reckoned by some to be the 'Great English Oratorio,' HCS's rendition of Elgar's piece will be recorded live for the Hyperion label.
HCS was established in 1836.
